EcoTourism Australia is a non-profit organisation and is the peak national body for the ecotourism industry. EcoTourism Australia offers a national Eco Certification Program which provides industry, protected area managers, local communities and travellers with an assurance that an accredited product is backed by a commitment to best practice ecological sustainability, natural area management and the provision of quality ecotourism experiences. Developed in Australia, the Eco Certification Program is now being exported to the rest of the world as the International Ecotourism Standard.

The Garnaut Climate Change Review was commissioned by Australia's Commonwealth, state and territory governments to examine the impacts, challenges and opportunities of climate change for Australia. The Final Report was issued on 30 September 2008 and can be accessed here.

The International Organisation for Standardisation is the world's largest developer and publisher of international standards. The ISO 14000 standards address various aspects of environmental management. The very first two standards, ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 14004:2004 deal with environmental management systems (EMS). ISO 14001:2004 provides the requirements for an EMS and ISO 14004:2004 gives general EMS guidelines. For more information on these standards, visit the ISO website.
